Summers are here and so is the need for sunscreens !! To cater to all our sunscreen needs Lakme recently launched the new Lakme 9 to 5 Super Sunscreen with SPF 50 PA+++. The formula claims to prevent tanning and sunburn and comes in two variates, one for normal skin (Lakme 9 to 5 Hydrating Super Sunscreen) and the other for oily skin ( Lakme 9 to 5 Mattifying Super Sunscreen). According to Lakme, this sunscreen is designed to hydrate and nourish your skin while protecting it from sun damage. It contains Vitamin B3 and Pro vitamin C that helps in skin lightening, spot lightening and contains skin even toning benefits. It is so feather light that you can simply glide it on below your Lakme 9 to 5 Makeup.
Frankly speaking I had no clue that Lakme had launched this product, until I saw it siting on a store shelf. I have been using the make up products from the Lakme 9 to 5 range and quite impressed by them so, I immediately picked up Lakme 9 to 5 Hydrating Super Sunscreen (as my skin is normal).

My Review Of Lakme 9 to 5 Hydrating Super Sunscreen
Staying true to its 9 to 5 range, this sunscreen comes in a rose coloured plastic bottle with a golden cap and a pump. The pump dispenses the correct amount of product and prevents wastage, its hygienic too. The texture is quite thick, like a cream with a sweet mild fragrance quite similar to the CC cream from Lakme. On application it easily glides on the skin and absorbs quickly without leaving any white cast (I have heard from friends that the Matte version leaves behind a white cast though only for a minute or so). Personally I did not notice any shine or greasiness after applying this sunscreen, even though this version does not have the matte finish.
As far as sun protection is concerned, it comes with SPF 50 PA+++ protection and claims to prevent sunburns and tanning. Now,I used it for 10 -12 days in the sweltering heat and sun for my day outs on my Singapore trip and it proved to be decently effective. However, you need to re apply it every 3-4 hours for maximum broadspectrum protection, which obviously is not possible all the time, hence I did ultimately get tanned. Moreover the whole point of 9 to 5 product line, is to provide protection for a longer period of time, which is not true for this sunscreen.
. Whats Good
- Glides easily and absorbs quickly
- Does not leave a white cast
- Non greasy
- SPF 50 PA+++
- Need to re apply every 3-4 hours for complete sun protection.
Lakme 9 to 5 Super Sunscreen Review
Overall Lakme 9 to 5 Hydrating Super Sunscreen is a decent sunscreen. It protects the skin from UVB and UVA rays with its SPF 50 +++ but the need to re apply the same after 3 -4 hours is a major let down. I find it a little too pricey too. Like I said before it is a decent sunscreen,nothing extra ordinary, maybe the matte version is better. If you are a fan of Lakme products you may give it a try, otherwise there are a lot of cheaper options available in the market to use this summer.
